Is Reddit Making a Return?

Reddit describes itself as the voice of the Internet and strives to bring the news to the world before it happens. This is enabled with user-generated content that perpetually includes links that individuals consider relevant. The landing page is then populated with information and top stories. The stories are filtered based on a voting systemReddit Social, which gives the user a sense of power and entitlement to influence the Reddit landing page.

However with the plethora of social media platforms that are currently available, it can be challenging to stay up to date and have a grasp of each and every one — Reddit included. It seems as though some come to light and then fade into oblivion. An example of this could be Reddit, although could it be making a return to the forefront?

Apparently the company recently announced staffing changes, causing one to consider if they are making a triumphant return from the brink of history in the social media ecosystem. The changes may not be overtly significant, but it is still important to question the reason for the transformation at Reddit as of late.

Reddit could be compared to Digg in the sense that they both have a niche following, although neither application has gained substantial traction over the years, especially in comparison to Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. The triad I just named seem to dominate the social space and it can be challenging to compete with such a wide-array of options. The social landscape is always dynamic though and trends change quickly, so don’t discredit Reddit and time will tell if their return is truly feasible.
